November 5-9, 2012

Monday – Students in Group 1 will rehearse their “How to Construct & Deliver a proper Speech.”

Tuesday – Students in Group 2 will rehearse their “How to Construct & Deliver a proper Speech.”

Wednesday – Students in Group 3 will rehearse their “How to Construct & Deliver a proper Speech.”

Thursday – Students in Group 4 will rehearse their “How to Construct & Deliver a proper Speech.”

Friday – Students in Group 5 will rehearse their “How to Construct & Deliver a proper Speech.”

October 29 – November 2, 2012

Monday – Students will complete their introduction for their PBL Speech : How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Tuesday – Students will complete their conclusion for their PBL Speech : How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Wednesday – Students will complete their Notecard for their PBL Speech : How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Thursday – Students will work on their visual aids for their PBL Speech : How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Friday – Students will regroup with their team mates and practice their presentation for their PBL Speech : How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Speech Lesson Week 9 – How to write a Speech

October 22-26, 2012

Monday– Friday – The students will continue their next Project Based Learning assignment.  Driving Question:  How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Students are expected to cover the internal motivation for writing a speech as well as the physical, step- by step guidelines for collecting and organizing data, and the steps for delivering the data through a verbal and visual presentation.

Speech Lessons Week 8 – PBL How to write a speech.

October 15 – 19, 2012

Monday– Friday – The students will continue their next Project Based Learning assignment.  Driving Question:  How do you construct and deliver a proper speech?

Students are expected to cover the internal motivation for writing a speech as well as the physical, step- by step guidelines for collecting and organizing data, and the steps for delivering the data through a verbal and visual presentation.

Speech Lessons Week 7 – PBL – Speech writing

October 8-12, 2012

Monday – Students will wrap up the loose ends of chapter 1 and complete any unfinished worksheets.

Tuesday – Friday – The students will begin their next Project Based Learning assignment: What are the crucial elements of writing and delivering a good speech? 

Students are expected to cover foundation and the internal motivation for writing a speech as well as the physical, step- by step guidelines for collecting data, organizing data, and delivering data.  


Speech Lessons Week 6 – Chap 1 Building Responsibility

October 1-5, 2012

Monday – Students will  complete the General Vocabulary and New Speech Terms worksheets for Chapter 1, Building Responsibility.

Tuesday – Students will participate in the lecture and take notes on Section 1, of Chapter 1. They will also work on the Things to Remember worksheet.

Tuesday – Students will participate in the lecture and take notes over Section 2 of Chapter 1, and work on the Important Concepts worksheet.

Wednesday – Students will participate in the lecture and take notes over Section 3 of Chapter 1, and work on the Important Concepts worksheet.

Thursday  -Students will finish work on the Famous People and Avoiding Stereotypes worksheets and finish up any unfinished worksheets.

Friday – Students will take the Chapter 1 TEST on BUILDING RESPONSIBILITY.

Speech Week 5 PBL Importance of Communication

October 23-28, 2012

Monday – The students will rehearse their PBL project based on the driving question: Should Speech/Communications class be required curriculum for high school graduation?

Tuesday – The students will present their PBL projects to the class.

Wednesday – The students will present their PBL projects to the class.

Thursday – The students will present their PBL projects to the class.

Friday – The students will evaluate the PBL projects and process and discuss ways to improve on the idea for the future.

Speech Week 4 PBL Importance of Communication

September 17 – 21, 2012

Monday – Friday.   The students will spend the week developing a project based on the history and importance of communication  in society and why it is essential to keep Communication classes in our public schools.  Students will discover how and where public speaking originated, and will ask and answer numerous questions on the subject.   What has been communication’s impact on society?  What role can communication classes play in a student’s life today? On Thursday and Friday, students will begin delivering their projects to the class.

Speech Week 3 – PBL Importance of Communication

Monday – Friday.   The students will spend the next two weeks developing a project based on the history and importance of communication  in society and why it is essential to keep Communication classes in our public schools.  Students will discover how and where public speaking originated, and will ask and answer numerous questions on the subject.   What has been communication’s impact on society?  What role can communication classes play in a student’s life today? 

Speech Lessons Week 2 (Fall) Dead Poet’s

September 3-7, 2012

Monday – Holiday

Tuesday – Students will continue watching the movie “Dead Poet’s Society” and prepare for a discussion quiz over the theme and plot of the movie.

Wednesday – Students will continue watching the movie “Dead Poet’s Society” and prepare for a discussion quiz over the theme and plot of the movie.

Thursday – Students will finish the movie,”Dead Poet’s Society” and have a round-table discussion on them, plot, and significance in their lives as teenagers.

Friday – Students will discuss/write,  the rap/poem/song they have to create to introduce themselves to the class.
